Letter from the founder
Job Seekers: The easiest job search is one that ends quickly. I want you to get to your goal as soon as possible. That's why I've spent the time and effort to gather this collection of career site links in one place. I have a dream of helping to streamline the recruiting process of the entire biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry to ensure the best candidates end up in the best jobs quickly. That said, I will gladly settle for a few dozen people finding jobs they really enjoy. It's my opinion that with fewer and fewer jobs to go around in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, you as a job seeker need to be as efficient as possible in your job search. You need to focus your search on the places you're most likely to earn a job and these are NOT the biggest, most lucrative companies like Pfizer, Merck, Genentech & Amgen. While these companies all offer excellent experience and salaries, the competition is incredibly fierce. Furthermore, these companies pay recruiters dearly to get them the best candidates throughout the country. Small companies do not have this luxury and often are waiting for a candidate to come to them. The bottom line is, when dealing with a large company, they are in the drivers' seat. With a smaller company you lead the way. You should look at all companies, but realize your odds of getting a job are much greater if you find a position that matches your skills at a smaller company. (And more exciting, I might add) Don't waste your time waiting for a big website to email you when a job 'matches' your profile, because they almost never do. Think about how many jobs you have been 'alerted' about that you were in no way qualified for. The big sites just don't have the ability to truly find jobs that suit your skills, background and experience. No one does except you. YOU have to do the work unless you're content with luck guiding your job search. So good luck, whichever route you choose. -BPG
